Entertainment mogul, Peter Thomas hosted the HCIBD? 2005 Hip Hop music conference, at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, aimed at educating and empowering Toronto’s budding urban music industry.

Toronto’s wealth of talent and growth potential magnetized Peter Thomas and other American music industry notables including Phillip Pabon-GM of Marketing and Advertising for Lot29/South Pole Brand (original member NYC Breakers), Jameel Spencer-CMO of the RocaWear/Roc Brands, and Brett Wright-CEO NuAmerica Agency. “What makes Peter’s event stand out is that it is not hosted by someone ‘interested’ in Hip Hop, it is hosted and facilitated by members of the culture,” MC 01 Los Angeles, Ca Rapper/Sound Engineer in attendance.

Workshop language and frankness was as necessary to create the environment required for authentic and meaningful discourse on Hip Hop and urban music industry issues. HCIBD? provided a forum for networking and education in observation of the monumental evolution of ‘B-Boys’ from industry outsiders to businessmen/industry heavyweights.

Attendees enjoyed the comfort, of the company of those that share their business goals, social and recreational interests. Workshop topics included but were not limited to, Brand Management, Trademark and Copyright Law, establishing an Independent Label, attaining Distribution, and the use of the Mass Media. In addition, as tangential topics and questions arose, they were welcomed and incorporated into the discussions.
